Iraq’s top Shi’ite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani meets Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri 

Baghdad ( — Iraq’s top Shi’ite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has stressed the importance of promoting the values of peaceful coexistence across the globe to attain international security and stability.

The top Shi’ite cleric made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and his accompanying delegation, Alghad Press reported.

During the meeting, Sistani called for developing relations between Baghdad and Beirut in various fields, urging the world countries to work on establishing the values of peaceful coexistence to maintain international peace and security.

He also stressed the importance of honoring rights of various religious components, considering it a cornerstone to provide prosperity and progress.

For his part, Berri congratulated the top Shi’ite cleric on the victory achieved by the Iraqi people in the war against the Islamic State group.
