ISIS seizes archaeological sites in Nineveh, sells antiquities to finance operations

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, the Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights said that the terrorist organization The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have taken control over the archaeological sites in the province of Nineveh ever since its seizure of the local capital city of Mosul on June 10th.

The Ministry of Human Rights said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The terrorist group ISIS continues the trade of archaeological pieces to finance its terrorist operations after taking control over many of the archaeological sites in the province of Mosul.”

The ministry added, “The terrorist entity ISIS detonated the house of the martyr Umayya Al-Jabbara, who served as a consultant of Salahuddin province. ISIS also separated women and children from men trapped near Lake Thar after stripping them of funds and jewelry.”
