Erbil (BasNews) Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Saturday offered congratulations to the Christians on the Easter Day, promising that Kurdistan Region will remain a safe haven for everyone to practice peaceful coexistence.

“Upon this holy occasion, we reiterate that Kurdistan Region’s people and government will remain committed to protect this tolerance and coexistence which are the cornerstone of the Kurdish historic culture,” reads KRG’s statement.

It further ensures that Kurdistan Region will continue protecting the people from various ethno-religious components and the Peshmerga is, as usual, ready to defend this peaceful spirit.

The KRG wishes Christian IDPs to be able to commemorate the upcoming Easter Day in their homes with the situation already settled down after they have been suffering from the rampage of extremist groups for the past few years.
