(IraqiNews.com) A member in the Commission of Fall of Mosul Investigation, Ali Lafta confirmed that the former Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki and the governor of Mosul, Ethel Nujaifi must be held responsible for the fall of Mosul.

Lafta said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is responsible for the fall of Mosul as commander of the armed forces at that time, the governor of Mosul Ethel Najafi is, too.”

He added that the subject of Mosul is thorny and there is a lot of finger pointed at officials in the previous government, especially in the military where there was a clear failure by the military forces and there must be a severe punishment for every leader who contributed to this matter.

He indicated that the House of Representatives formed an investigative committee on this subject with the Committee of Defense, Security and Human Rights as a member. There are running investigations with military leaders. In the coming days, the Commission will show results of its work and the reasons for the fall of Mosul.
