(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister, Bahaa al-Araji announced that the Council of Ministers decided to reduce the salaries of  its president, deputies and members to 50%, indicating that this reduction is necessary savings.

Araji said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Council of Ministers decided to reduce the salaries of its president and deputies, in addition to the council’s members to 50% based on my suggestion,” adding that the reduction is compulsory savings.

Noteworthy, Iraq suffers from a significant deficit in its state budget, which made the Council of Ministers form a ministerial committee in November 2014 to determine the reducing expenses of all ministries in order to control the deficit in the state budget 2015, while the committee will submit its recommendations within a week to address and reduce the estimated deficit.
