(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A leader of the State Law Coalition, MP Ali Alaq denied on Monday the reports about the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s submission of his resignation and putting it at the disposal of the supreme religious authority Ali al-Sistani, stressing that Abadi will not give up his post.

Alaq said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The talk about the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s submission of his resignation at the disposal of the religious authority is not true at all,” adding that, “We deny it altogether.”

Alaq, who is close to al-Abadi, confirmed that, “The prime minister is working according to his responsibilities,” noting that, “Al-Abadi will not give up his position as the Iraq prime minister.”

Some of the media picked up during the past two days press reports claiming that Abadi had submitted his resignation after facing pressure from political blocs, and put it at the disposal of the supreme authority Ali al-Sistani.
