Sakhban village of Dhi Qar free of radioactive contamination

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Ministry of Environment stressed that Al-sakban village in Kharaaf district of Dhi Qar province is devoid of radioactive contamination.

A statement by the Ministry quoted Director General of the Environmental Information, Amir Ali al-Hassoun, as saying “A team from Dhi Qar Environment Department conducted the required radioactive tests for residential houses in the district on background of receiving several complaints from citizens in this regard where the testes stressed the absence of radioactive contamination in the district.”

Hassoun added that “Most of the cancer cases in the region are a cancer of the lymph glands, which is common in an environment deprived of basic services such as water and sanitation projects, which negatively affect the health of residents in the district.”
