Thousands of Christians protest in Erbil demanding their own province

(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, thousands of Christians demonstrated in front of the United Nations headquarters in Erbil, demanding the establishment of a safe zone for them under international protection in the Nineveh Plain area, while stressed the need for having their own province and finding a solution for the displaced.

IraqiNews reporter said, “Thousands of Christians demonstrated today in front of the United Nations headquarters in Erbil, coincided with the Christian’s rejection to celebrate the Chaldean Assyrian ‘Akito’ holidays.

The reporter said that the protesters held signs demanding the establishment of a safe area under international protection, stressing the need for creating a province for them in Nineveh Plain area.

The reporter continued that the interest in the displaced situation and rebuilding the Christian areas, that had been attacked by ISIS, were the main demands of the protesters.
