URGENT: KRG to arrest those calling for Arabs to be deported

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, the Police Directorate of Erbil Province decided to prevent any demonstration demanding the deportation of Arabs from the region, stressing that the Ministry of the Interior in the region decided to arrest any person who participates in a demonstration to incite Arab deportation.

A spokesman for the Police Directorate of Erbil, Karwan Abdul Karim, said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, that “the Police Directorate of Erbil will prevent the start of any demonstration demanding the deportation of our Arab brothers of the Kurdistan region,” adding that “the police have taken all measures to prevent any demonstration like this. ”

Abdul Karim added that “the Ministry of Interior in the province issued orders to arrest any person who participates in or contributes to the demonstration or incitement against Arabs; we will take legal action against him.

A group of Kurdish activists called on social networking sites to organize a peaceful demonstration in Erbil on Friday, calling for the deportation of Arabs from the Kurdistan Region following the launch of some Arab citizens in Erbil slogans in support of the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
