Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The video below shows the moment of the Mi-17 helicopter crash. Member of Parliament Vian Dakhil was distributing humanitarian aid to Yazidi displaced people who have fled to Mount Sinjar, west of Mosul city, a shelter after being surrounded by militants of the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
According to what was said by the federal security officials, this incident resulted the killing of the pilot and the injury of the MP Vian Dakhil. Some of the pictures showed that the Yazidi MP suffered from some of the fractures in the area of the foot as well as the wounds in different parts of her body. The rest of the crew was not immune from those injuries; they were subjected to severe wounds.
A spokesman for the Office of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Qassim Atta announced on Tuesday (12 August 2014) that the Russian-made Mi-17 helicopter belonged to the Iraqi army and crashed due to “a technical fault.”
Brigadier General Sami Bousali said “the helicopter was carrying 20 people, including the Member of Parliament of the Yezidi community, Vian Dakhil, who survived the crash but sustained injuries.”
