We will arm al-Hashd al-Sha’bi everywhere in Iraq within state control, says Abadi
Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi
(IraqiNews.com) Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi affirmed on Thursday, that his government is serious about arming al-Hashd al-Sha’bi (the Volunteer Fighters forces) everywhere in Iraq, noting that they will be within the control of the state.
State television quoted Abadi as saying , “Iraq is governed by its people and we are serious about arming al-Hashd al Sha’bi everywhere in Iraq within the state control,” noting that, “Weapons will not be distributed randomly.”
On the other hand, al-Abadi added, “I believe in the state institutions’ independence,” pointing out that it means managing its affairs according to its own laws.
