11 people killed, wounded in bomb blast in southern Baghdad

( Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday, that 11 people had been either killed or wounded in a bomb blast in southern Baghdad.

The source said in a statement followed by, “This morning, a bomb exploded near a popular market in the district of Mahmudiya in southern Baghdad, killing two people and wounding  nine others.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “A security force rushed to the area and transferred the wounded to Mahmudiyah Hospital for treatment and the dead bodies to the forensic medicine department, while tough measures had been taken in anticipation of the presence of other bombs.”
