11 police elements killed, wounded in ISIS attack in Baiji

(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – A security source in Salahuddin Province announced on Wednesday, that 11 elements of the police had been either killed or wounded in an attack launched by ISIS on a thermal power station northeast of Baiji in northern Tikrit.

The source said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “Yesterday, ISIS members attacked the police force that was assigned to protect the thermal power station in Shweich area northeast of Baiji, using light and medium weapons, killing five policemen and wounding six others,” adding that, “A security forces rushed to the area and evacuated the wounded to a nearby hospital to receive treatment and the dead bodies to the forensic medicine department.”

The source continued, “Preliminary information indicates that the ISIS militants sneaked from Hamrin Mountains toward the power station.”
