20,000 Iraqi fighters to participate in the battle of Mosul, says head of Nineveh Council

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, the head of Nineveh Provincial Council stated, that the under-planned operation to liberate al-Mosul will include roughly 20,000 Iraqi fighters from outside the Army forces.

The head of the council , Bashar al-Kiky stated for IraqiNews, “20,000 fighters will participate in the battle of al-Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq and Nineveh governorate’s capital city. The operation will start by blockading the city from four different corners, in which the 20,000 fighters will take role in the battle,” but noted that, “The operation is still under-planned because of some special requirements and weaponry, which have not yet been received.”

“Many volunteers are still hoping to sign up their names to join the training camps for the battle,” al-Kiky added.
