3 “Islamic State of Iraq” suspected members arrested

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Three brothers believed to belong to the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq” were arrested in Huweija district, according to a local police chief. “The three brothers, including one called Nasser Mostafa Hassan, were arrested during a raid on a house in Huweija district (60 km southwest of Kirkuk),” Brig. Sarhad Qader told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Those arrested are from Ramadi,” the official noted. The self-styled Islamic State of Iraq is an armed organization that was set up in October 2006. Most prominent of its groups is al-Qaeda in Iraq, led by a man called Abu Omar al-Boghdadi. Kirkuk, a mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
