(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior announced on Monday that six members of the Iraqi army were either killed or wounded in the explosion of a car bomb south of Baghdad.

The source said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “This morning, a car bomb parked on the roadside exploded targeting a convoy of the Iraqi army while passing in al-Latifiya area south of Baghdad, killing an army member and wounding five others.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “A security force rushed to the area and transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment and the dead body to the forensic medicine department, while cordoned off the area and prevented approaching it.”
