6 wounded in blast near of Hilla

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: Six persons, including three women, were wounded on Wednesday when an improvised explosive device went off on a main road northwest of Hilla city, a police source in Babel province said. “A time bomb went off in the area of al-Khidr, al-Musayyab district, (50 km) northwest of Hilla, on Wednesday,” the source, who asked not to be named, told IraqiNews.com. “The explosion occurred while a vehicle was passing by. Six people, including three women, were injured in the blast,” the source said, not giving more details. Babel, a Shiite province that lies 100 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, has an area of 6,468 square kilometers (2,497.3 sq mi), with an estimated population of 1,385,783 people in 2003. The provincial capital is the town of al-Hilla. The ancient ruins of Babylon ( Babil , after which the region is named) are also in the province. AmR (P) 1
