68,000 US dollars in counterfeit bills seized

DIWANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Police in Diwaniya have discovered 68,000 US dollars in counterfeit currency and over 32,000 drug pills in  a security operation in a village of southern Iraq’s Diwaniya city, Diwaniya‘s police commander said on Tuesday. “The Anti-Crime Forces in Diwaniya have arrested a dealer in foreign currency, with 68,000 counterfeit US dollars in his possession in central Diwaniya on Tuesday,” Lt- Brigadier, Majid al-Zuheiry, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Preliminary confessions have uncovered his ties to a large forgery gang that deal with counterfeit currency,” he added. “Security forces were also able to arrest a drug dealer in a Diwaniya district, and seized over 32,000 pills he was hiding in a photo-copy machine in a shop in the area,” the source noted, stressing the existance of a large network of drug dealers in and around the province.
