(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Monday, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced, that the security forces started military operations to liberate the city of Fallujah (62 km west of Baghdad).

Abadi said in a speech during a meeting in the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command in Baghdad’s Green Zone in the presence of the Joint Operations leader Talib Shighati and the commander of Fallujah Liberation Operations Abdul-Wahab al-Saadi and followed by IraqiNews.com, “Military operations were started in order to liberate Fallujah from ISIS gangs,” pointing out that, “The security forces will raise the Iraqi flag above the land of Fallujah.”

Abadi added, “The forces from the Iraqi army, al-Hashed al-Shaabi, Federal Police, Anti-Terrorism and tribal fighters are participating in the liberation battles of Fallujah.”
