Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has promised regaining control on all border crossings, indicating intentions for taking measures after Kurdistan retreated from the draft agreement with Baghdad.

During the weekly conference on Tuesday, Abadi said, “like we controlled the disputed regions without escalation, we will retake the border regions.”

“We are not going to wait forever. We will take action regarding the border crossings, after Kurdistan stepped back from the recent agreement,” Abadi added.

Moreover, Abadi said troops are getting ready to liberate regions that have not been reached by Iraqi troops since 2003 in west of Anbar.

Iraqi troops began the last operations to liberate western Anbar regions held by Islamic State .

Earlier on the day, Iraqi army reportedly advanced toward Rawa, the last bastion in Anbar. On Monday, six villages were freed after the IS militants escaped toward the desert.

Hussein al-Okaidi, Rawa mayor, said last week, the number of remaining Islamic State militants is estimated at no more than twenty members.

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced, earlier November, the liberation of Qaim in record time. Troops also freed Ebeidi and Krabla regions in western Anbar.

Operations were launched, late October, to liberate Qaim and Rawa towns. Both have been held by the extremist group since 2014, when it occupied one third of Iraq to proclaim a self-styled Islamic “Caliphate”.
