(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – Anbar Operations Command announced on Saturday that Albu Obeid area in Khalidiya island in eastern Ramadi (110 km west of Baghdad) has been liberated from ISIS control. The command further informed that during the liberation battles, tens of ISIS members were also gunned down by the forces.

The commander of Anbar Operations Major General Ismail al-Mahalawi, in a press statement, said, “The security forces managed to liberate Albu Obeid area in Khalidiya Island, killing tens of ISIS members.”

Adding further Mahalawi said, “The security forces are advancing from Albu Obeid towards the vicinity of al-Zwya in Khalidiya island in eastern Ramadi to liberate it in the coming few hours. ISIS defense lines and strongholds have also been destroyed during the operations.”
