(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior revealed on Tuesday that five (5) members of the Sunni Awakening movement (al-Sahwa) were either killed or wounded in an armed attack launched by unidentified gunmen on their checkpoint in southern Baghdad.

According to information shared by the source, and received by Iraqi News, it was mentioned, “Unidentified gunmen open fired, before noon today, towards a checkpoint of the Sunni Awakening movement (al-Sahwa) in Arab Jabour village in al-Dawra area, south of Baghdad and as a result of this two (2) of its members were killed and five (5) others were injured.”

The information added, “Security forces rushed to the area of the incident and evacuated the wounded to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. The bodies of the deceased were sent for forensic examinations. A security cordon has been imposed in the area and the incident is further investigated upon.”
