(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad- On Thursday, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon expressed concern over the recent kidnapping accident of a group of Qatari in Iraq, urging the Iraqi government to do everything possible to ensure their safety and the speed of their release.

The statement of the United Nations said that, “the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Wednesday to congratulate him on the victory achieved by the Iraqi forces in the fight against ISIS and the liberalization of the city of Ramadi.”

Ban Ki-moon expressed “concern about the kidnapping accident, which recently occurred to a group of Qatari nationals in Iraq, including children, urging “the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to do everything possible to ensure their safety and the speed of their release.”

The representative of the religious authority in Karbala, Ahmad Safi Dan condemned in (December 25, 2015) the abduction of the Qatari fishermen, considering such acts as “contrary” to religion and noble ethics of Iraqis, while demanded the release of all abductees, calling for the support of security forces to protect the country.
