Barzani’s party: ISIS started digging a ditch around Mosul and Baashiqa

(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, an official in the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Kurdish regional president, Masoud al-Barzani, revealed that ISIS militants have started digging a ditch around Mosul and Baashiqa for the purpose of resisting military operations to liberate the province of Nineveh.

The official in the Kurdistan Democratic Party, named Saed Memozeni, stated for IraqiNews.com that, “The ISIS organization militants have begun to dig a ditch around the cities of Mosul and Baashiqa,” adding it is for the purpose of “resisting military operations to liberate Nineveh”.

Memozeni added, “This step does not pose an obstacle before the operations to liberate Mosul,” asserting that, “It does not affect the operations in any fashion.”

Noteworthy, on November 20th, 2014, General Commander of the Armed Forces, Haider al-Abadi revealed he issued a bureau order to form an Operational Command to liberate the province of Nineveh from ISIS. He also confirmed that operations to liberate the province of Anbar and areas near Mosul had been started.
