(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, Canada sent 6 fighter aircrafts to the Middle East to participate in a military operation led by the United States against the terrorist organization of the so-called Islamic state in Iraq.

A statement issued by the Canadian Ministry of Defense said that “the fighter jets F-18 took off this morning from the base of Cold-Lake located in the province of Alberta to participate in the process.”

Also, Canada will send two CB -140 reconnaissance aircraft, a CC – 150 refueling aircraft Airbus, and 600 soldiers to reinforce the air mission that will be stationed at an air base in Kuwait.

Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, announced that his country’s troops will direct airstrikes on ISIS’s sites in the Iraqi territory exclusively, stressing that the soldiers will not participate in any potential ground operation.
