 Clashes around Biji’s oil refinery, around 100 ISIS fighters killed

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, Salahuddin Operations Command denied ISIS entering Biji’s oil refinery, asserting that clashes between the security forces and the militants are ongoing around the refinery in north of the district.

Commander of Salahuddin Operations Lt. Gen. Abdul-Wahab al-Saadi stated for IraqiNews, “ISIS militants attempted to approach Biji’s oil refinery using a tank, container and bulldozer to attack the security forces inside [it],” noting that, “The forces began counter operations against the militants in the area.”

Al-Saadi said, “Casualty figures show that ISIS has lost around 100 fighters since yesterday evening until now,” adding that, “The clashes between the two sides are still ongoing.”
