Diala’s Local council purchases $2 million high-tech cameras to monitor gunmen

DIALA/IraqiNews.com: Provincial authorities on Friday announced they earmarked 3 billion Iraqi Dinars to purchase close-circuit TV camera to monitor the movements of gunmen in the province, a local official said. “Diala’s local council decided to earmark 124 billion dinars ($2.5 million) to purchase high-tech cameras to be used in monitoring the movements of armed groups and roadside bombs planting,” local member Hussam Ali told IraqiNews.com. The local official noted “the money was earmarked after allocating 124 billion Iraqi dinars as a supplementary budget for Diala”. Earlier, Diala’s local council said it purchased 21 high-tech camera for 3.6 billion Iraqi dinars to detect roadside bombs. Diala, has been the scene of a large-scale security operations to crack down on gunmen and to impose the rule of law. AM(S) 1
