Downtown Baghdad blast casualties reach 11

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Casualties from the blast that occurred earlier today near the Iraqi Health Ministry have reached 11, including three dead, according to the Iraqi police. “The explosion which occurred near the compound of the Ministry of Health was caused by two explosive devices,” a police source told Iraqi News. “The first device went off in the courtyard of Othman al-Amri Mosque, while the second device exploded in a nearby garage while worshippers while fleeing the place,” the source explained. “The blast caused damage to the mosque,” the source added. Earlier today, a police source said that a booby-trapped car bomb detonated at a square near the Ministry of Health in al-Bab al-Muadham area, central Baghdad, killing one civilian and injuring four others, according to an initial count.
