Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Al-Hashd al-Shaabi announced on Saturday killing 40 members of the Islamic State extremist group, after repulsing their attack, west of Mosul.

Al-Hashd organization said in a press statement, “Forces from al-Hashd al-Shaabi’s 2nd brigade repelled an attack launched by the Islamic State on al-Kobayrat area, east of Mosul”

“More than 40 members of the Islamic State were killed during the offensive,” the statement added.

Security forces, backed by Army Aviation and international coalition forces continue the battle to liberate the city of Mosul from the Islamic State group, while Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on January 24, 2017, liberating the eastern side of the city completely.
