(IraqiNews.com) al-Anbar – On Thursday the Iraqi Shia paramilitary group, Kataib Hizbollah, threatened to withdraw its forces from eastern Fallujah if the government failed to provide its fighters with support. Kataib Hizbollah fighters control 5 of the most vital axes in Anbar Province.

The Kataib Hizbollah said in an statement obtained by IraqiNews.com that “We have fought for more than a year and in five of the most vital axes in the fight against ISIS in Anbar province. The current government and the leadership of al-Hashed al-Sha’bi militia have not provided any support for us, but the Kataib were [only] relying on themselves and their own capabilities in fighting ISIS.”

“We have informed the government that we will withdraw the Kataib fighters from eastern Fallujah if this farce would not to be stopped; and let the ‘Americans’ protect the areas in north of ‘Ameriyat [of Fallujah], Tarek camp and Baghdad Airport,’” the statement also added.

The Kataib Hezbollah (KH) or Hezbollah Battalions is an Iranian-backed Shia paramilitary group in Iraq. In 2014 the group began taking a prominent role in the fight against ISIS, and it was reported that it had received air support from the U.S. Air Force during the Iranian-led intervention in Iraq.
