Hostage found dead, kidnapper nabbed in Ninewa

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A hostage was found dead a few days after he had been kidnapped in Ninewa’s Mosul city, a security source said on Sunday. “On Sunday morning, police forces found a body belonging to a taxi driver near al-Khidr village, al-Namroud district, eastern Mosul,” the source told Iraqi News. “The body bore signs of gunshot wounds to the head and chest,” the source noted. “The driver was kidnapped three days ago,” the source explained. “The Asayesh (Kurdish for security) forces arrested one of his kidnappers, who arrived to collect a ransom,” according to the source. “The driver’s family had paid a ransom of $7,500 U.S. dollars (nearly 8.8 million Iraqi dinars) to his captors, who demanded more money to release their hostage,” the source added.
