Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Interior Ministry said Wednesday it was opening an investigation into the kidnapping of three Lebanese nationals which Lebanese media say has developed into a ransom situation.

According to Alsumaria News, Minister Qassem al-Aaraji has ordered an investigation into the kidnapping of three Lebanese headed by the ministry’s intelligence chief.

Lebanon’s foreign ministry said Tuesday that three Lebanese businessmen were kidnapped, having arrived in Baghdad on October 22nd.

“Negotiations are ongoing regarding a ransom,” Lebanon’s Daily Star quoted diplomatic sources telling Voice of Lebanon (93.3 FM).

“VDL reported that two of the men were kidnapped first on Oct. 22. The third Lebanese man went with an assistant and his lawyer to negotiate their release, and was subsequently kidnapped as well,” the newspaper said.
