Iraq receives new Russian ‘Night Hunter’ helicopters

(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, the Ministry of Defense announced that, Iraq has received a new set of Russian ‘Night Hunter’ helicopters, noting that another batch is expected to arrive this weekend.

The ministry said in a statement, received by IraqiNews.com, “The leadership of the Army Aviation received a new batch of the Russian helicopters, model MI-28 (known as Night Hunter) under the contract between the Ministry of Defense and its Russian counterpart.”

The statement added, “Another batch is expected to arrive by the end of this week. The command of Army Aviation has previously received many of these aircrafts.”

The Ministry of Defense announced on October 29, 2014 that, Night Hunter helicopters had participated in the fight against terrorism, in order to provide assistance to the Iraqi people in various circumstances and events.

  1. Russian jets? An Mi-28 is not even close to a fighter jet. Calling helicopters a jet is an eye sore, please correct this article. Thank you.

  2. Mi-28 is latest attack helicopter and the picture showed is Mi-24 Hind which is good enough to provide air cover to Iraq forces and Iraq pilot used to fly Mi-24 long time.
