Iraqi 1st Division commander killed in battle with ISIS north of Fallujah

(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – A security source in Anbar province said in an interview for IraqiNews.com that “There are reports that the commander of the First Army Division, Brigadier General Hassan Abbas Tufan, was killed in the evening during confrontations with gunmen belonging to ISIS in Nazim Thar Thar area north of Fallujah.”
The source, who asked to remain anonymous, added: “the confrontations with ISIS are still ongoing in that area.”
The commander of Anbar Operations, Major Geneneral Mohammed Khalaf, announced on Friday that the Iraqi Air Force had repelled ISIS attacks on Nazim Thar Thar area, indicating that ISIS did not dominate Nazim, while confirming that clashes are still ongoing.
