Iraqi Defense Minister’s convoy exposed to fire north of Tikrit

(IraqiNews.com) A source in the Iraqi Defense Ministry said on Monday, that the Defense Minister ‘s convoy came under fire north of the city of Tikrit, while noting that this resulted in wounding one of his bodyguards.
The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com:, “The convoy of Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi was subjected today to a shooting, during the inspection of Salahuddin operations in Tel Albu Jarad area north of Tikrit.”
The source, who asked anonymity, added: “This led to the injury of one of the guards,” asserting that “the minister was not hurt.”
Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi inspected earlier on Monday military divisions in Baiji and supervised the conduct of military operations in Albu Jarad area.
