(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Mayor of Tel Keppe district Bassem Yacoub announced on Saturday, that Iraqi forces are besieging the district from all axes and preparing to storm into it soon, while pointed out to the arrival of food aids to 1200 civilians who were besieged in some villages near the district.

Yacoub said in a press statement, “Tel Keppe district is under the ISIS control, and the security forces will storm into it soon, especially after the army forces besieged the district from all axes in coordination with Kurdish Peshmerga forces.”

“Military commanders delayed the operation to storm into Tel Keppe because some civilians are still in the district and they are used by the ISIS as human shields,” Yacoub added. “The extremist group inflicted significant losses on the infrastructure of the district that will need a long time for reconstruction,” Yacoub explained.

Yacoub also revealed that the joint coordination between the district’s administration, army and Peshmerga facilitated the arrival of food aid to 1200 civilians who were besieged in villages near the areas of ongoing military operations.
