Zummar (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi and Kurdish officials, convening at Zummar military base, have agreed on extending the ceasefire between both sides, an informed source from the meeting said.

“The two sides agreed on extending the ceasefire between federal and Peshmerga troops,” the source said. “The Kurdish delegation requested sending a technical team to demarcate borders at disputed regions.”

An Iraqi delegation started earlier on the day a meeting with Kurdish leaders at Zummar, west of Nineveh, a source said.

“Baghdad’s delegation is headed by Iraqi army chief of staff Othman al-Ghanimi, chief of army’s Counter-Terrorism Service Abdul Ghani al-Assadi, Nineveh Operations Command Najm al-Jabouri, Federal Police Chief Shaker Jawdat and an intelligence officer,” Mohie Eddin al-Mazwari, Kurdistan Democratic Party’s media official told Baghdad Today.

“The Kurdish official includes Jamal Iminki, commander of Peshmerga troops, Jabbar al-Yawar, secretary general of Peshmerga ministry, Karim Sinjari, Kurdistan’s interior minister and Sirwan Barzani, commander of Makhmur axis,” he added.

On Friday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi ordered “halting operations by military troops for 24 hours,” at the areas disputed on between Erbil and Baghdad.

Baghdad had declared intentions to retake areas disputed on with Erbil following the Kurdistan Region’s vote for independence from Iraq in September, urging Peshmerga to cooperate with federal troops.
