Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Samarra Operations Command announced, on Tuesday, that its security forces arrested five wanted persons in the city of Samarra, in Salahuddin Province.

The Command said in a statement that the security forces from Samarra Operations Command managed to arrest two wanted persons on charges of terrorism in al-Hawish checkpoint, while another security forces from the command arrested three wanted persons on other charges in al-Dajeel area.

Furthermore, the Command revealed that the security forces found an improvised explosive device, while searching for the Islamic State’s hideouts in the area of al-Rofayaat.

It is noteworthy that in June 2014, the city of Samarra was attacked by the Islamic State group (ISIS). The ISIS militants captured the municipality building and university, but were later repulsed by the Iraqi security forces.
