Diyala ( – Iraqi security forces killed on Monday a dangerous member of the terrorist Islamic State group during a security operation in Diyala, a security source was quoted as saying.

Speaking to the Arabic-language Baghdad Today news website, the source said that a joint security force raided an agricultural land in Buhriz, 20km south of Baqubah, targeting a dangerous IS terrorist.

“The troops killed the terrorist and destroyed his hideout,” added the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In January 2015, Iraqi forces announced liberation of Diyala province from Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
