(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – A local source in Nineveh Province informed on Tuesday that ISIS has banned the citizens of Mosul from praying during Eid al-Fitr. The source further informed that even the markets of the city are devoid of any glitz and glamour of Eid.

Informing in details about the ban imposed by the ISIS, the source said, “Even though tomorrow is the first day of Eid, the ISIS however has imposed a ban on Eid al-Fitr prayers on Wednesday and informed all imams and preachers of the city about this cancellation order.”

“The residents were informed about this cancellation through Diwan al-Hisba,” the source added.

This is not for the first time that ISIS has imposed this ban on Eid al-Fitr prayers in Mosul as in 2015 as well the organization issued a ban against offering prayers on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, claiming it was not part of the religion they practiced.

Moreover, in 2015, the ultra-radical group had banned the performing of Taraweeh prayers and it said that there was nothing religious about the prayers and that it were just a ‘fad’ invented by the Saudi clerics.

It may be mentioned here that since the ISIS takeover of Mosul in 2014, the organization has been imposing new rules and regulations, backed by strict punishments that include threat of death for the offenders.
