ISIS flees center of Baiji upon arrival of security forces, says Defense Ministry

(IraqiNews.com) Salahudin – On Sunday, Iraqi Defense Ministry announced the occurrence of a mass escape by ISIS elements from the center of Baiji District in north of Tikrit after the arrival of the security forces and volunteer fighters inside the district.

The ministry said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “Our regiments of the army and al-Hashed al-Sha’bi are advancing into the refinery of Baiji after cleansing the road of Tal Abu Garad,” adding that, “The security forces managed to destroy a vehicle carrying ammunition and kill everyone inside it from ISIS in the area of al-Siniyah in west of Baiji District.”

The statement read, “The ISIS elements have fled in masses from the center of Baiji District after the arrival of the heroes of the Iraqi Special Forces and al-Hashed al-Sha’bi [militia].”

  1. The reason ISIS fled is because they already burned the facilities to the ground. Once again, Iraq military a day late. The war can’t be won until Iraq military becomes initiator of battles instead of being a reactionary force.

  2. Has a force been dispatched to follow the massed ISIS force to see where that massed ISIS force is going as probably they have gone on another offensive somewhere else?
