Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Interior Ministry has announced arresting Islamic State leader in charge of real estate along with his father, known as the legislative leader, west of Mosul.

In a statement on Monday, the ministry said Nineveh Police department “arrested Islamic State’s so called leader in charge of the real estate.”

The leader, according to the statement, “used to work along his father, who was the legislative leader of southern Mosul regions, while the group was in control of the city.”

He was arrested at the forests, located west of Mosul, the statement added.

On Saturday, eight Islamic State members were arrested in several regions across Mosul and Tal Afar, according to the Security Media Center.

Last week, seven Islamic State members were arrested after attacking a checkpoint for Federal Police and managed to kill a policeman. Troops also arrested Islamic State member, who was in charge of carrying out executions, called Abu Saif al-Hilaly, in al-Rashidiya region, northwest of Mosul.

Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June 2014.
