Kurdish Peshmerga forces foil ISIS attack on southern Erbil

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, a source in Kurdistan region revealed, that the paramilitary Kurdish Peshmerga forces repelled a violent attack by the ISIS group fighters on southern Erbil.

The source informed IraqiNews, “Yesterday, elements of the ISIS group have carried out an offensive operation on the area of Kowyer-Makhmour, located in southern Erbil,” noting that, “The violent attack had taken place in the villages of Garollah, Tal-al-Rim, Sultan-Abdullah, Tal-Shier, Kowyer, Koshaf, Tozzati and Kabrana.”

The source, who requested anonymity, added, “Kurdish Peshmerga forces backed by the international coalition warplanes have managed to repel the attack and inflict heavy casualties on ISIS ranks during the clashes.”
