Kurdish Peshmerga kill 60 ISIS militants in violent clashes, regain control of 7 villages in Zamar

(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) announced, that the Kurdish Peshmerga forces have liberated seven villages in  Zamar district after killing roughly 60 ISIS militants in fierce clashes.

An official source from the KDP said in an interview with IraqiNews, “Peshmerga forces have regained control over al-Karkmish, Kobanki, Qassij, Faqirouk, Hamu-Kulo and Hanka villages as a result of fierce clashes in the district of Zamar, located in west of Mosul,” adding that, “The clashes resulted in killing around 60 ISIS militants,” and pointing out that, “the ISIS group leaders have reportedly executed 20 of their own elements for fleeing from the battlefield.

Earlier today, Kurdish officials announced, that the Peshmerga forces began an offensive on ISIS sites in Zammar district, asserting the continual progress of the Peshmerga in the surrounding areas of Mosul.
