Mission to liberate Khalediya island launched, says Anbar Operations

(IraqiNews.com) al-Anbar – The commander of Anbar Operations Command, Maj. Gen. Ismail al-Mahalawi, announced on Saturday that an operation to liberate al-Khalediya island (east of Ramadi) from ISIS grip has been launched.

Mahalawi, in a statement, said, “This morning, [army’s] Tenth Division began an extensive military operation to liberate al-Khalediya Island (23 km east of Ramadi) from ISIS control,” adding that, “These is a resistance by the enemy, however, our forces are advancing to their specified targets.”
