Diyala (IraqiNews.com) A paramilitary personnel was wounded in a bomb blast, northeast of Baquba, a local source from Diyala province was quoted saying on Friday.

“A member of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) was wounded as a bomb, placed on the side of the agricultural road in Qurret Tabah region, exploded during a campaign launched at some regions,” the source told AlSumaria News.

“Security services cordoned off the explosion scene and started combing the region fearing further explosions,” he added.

Earlier on the day a source from PMFs revealed the outcome of an operation at northern Diyala regions.

“Troops destroyed two rest houses of Islamic State militants in a village between Qurret Tabah and al-Udhaim regions within an operation that was carried out earlier on the day,” the source told Baghdad Today website.

On Tuesday, An IS leader and two of his companions were killed in an airstrike, northeast of Baqubah, according to remarks by Sadeq al-Husseini, head of the security committee of Diyala provincial council.

Thousands of IS militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition, was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group.

In December, Abadi announced full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members.
