Peshmerga and police control Khabbaz field in Kirkuk, liberate North Oil Company employees

(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, an official in the hub of southern Kirkuk’s Peshmerga forces, Brigade Rasoul Qadir announced that, the Kurdish Peshmerga backed by the police forces managed to gain full control over the Khabbaz oil field, and liberate the employees detained by ISIS in the field southwest of the province.

Qadir stated in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Peshmerga backed by the police forces managed this evening to gain full control over the Khabbaz oil field in the Mullah Abdullah area (35 km southwest of Kirkuk),” noting that, “The operation was successful; we controlled the oil field and all villages, and liberated the North Oil Company employees who were held in the station vault.”

He added, “Security forces now seize the oil field which was swarming with ISIS militants last night,” pointing out that, “The terrorist militants fled from the area and left the bodies of their dead.”
