Diyala (IraqiNews.com) Diyala Police Chief, Major General Jassim al-Saadi announced on Sunday repulsing an attack launched by the Islamic State group on the province, in addition to discovering a cache of weapons.

Saadi said in a press statement, “Today, Diyala police dismantled four improvised explosive devices in different areas of Khalis District (15 km north of Baqubah), while discovered a cache of weapons containing missiles north of Muqdadiyah District.”

“Police forces also repulsed an attack launched by the Islamic State on one of its checkpoints in Mutaibaja area on borders between Diyala and Salahuddin,” he further added.

Noteworthy, Iraq is witnessing an exceptional situation, where military battles are ongoing to liberate the Islamic State-held areas in the country.
