Rocket suspected of chemicals detonated in Halabcha

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Sulaimaniya‘s Halabcha city local authorities announced that a U.S. team detonated a rocket which was found few days ago, pointing out that the explosion should not pose any risks.    The Head of Halabcha city Koran Adham told IraqiNews.com that the rocket was found and resulted in affecting seven security and civilians. The US team assured that the explosion will not cause any bad effects on the area.   The rocket was suspected of carrying chemical materials.   Halabcha, in Sulaimaniya province, came under attack on 16 March 1988 by chemical weapons at the hands of the former regime, which led, according to Kurdish statistics, to the death of 5,000 civilians and injuring 10,000.
