Baghdad (IraqiNews) Security forces have apprehended a person on charges of digital blackmail, south of Baghdad on Tuesday.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, General Saad Maan, said that the security forces managed to apprehend a person on charges of digital blackmail. The Interior Ministry great efforts continues with high coordination and careful tracking of one of the targets accused of extortion, he added.

Maan explained that the efforts of expert officers of the Electronic Crimes Division, in cooperation with the Anti-crimes Office, arrested the accused person, south of Baghdad. He will be referred to the competent courts to receive a fair punishment.

It is noteworthy that in the past months, many citizens have been the victims of private extortion operations, especially on social networking platforms, by highly skilled and professional people who penetrate the sites. The security services occasionally announce the arrest of those accused of blackmail.
